Why gooseberries aren’t a real fruit

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: gooseberries aren’t a real fruit.

I have no evidence to support the existence of this supposed ‘fruit’. It’s not an apple, not even a plum, so it can’t be real. I even named an artwork to this effect. 

Some say they are a seasonal fruit, but they would do, wouldn’t they?
